These terms cover your subscription to Smart Reception. They are a plain-language summary of our agreement with you, not legal advice.
Smart Reception provides an AI receptionist that answers calls to a phone number we assign to your business, using the hours, services and answers you configure. It is an answering and message-taking service. It is not an emergency service and must not be presented to callers as one.
New accounts start with a 14-day free trial. You can cancel at any point during the trial and nothing is charged. If you do not cancel, the subscription begins at the end of the trial at the rate shown when you signed up.
Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance and renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from the billing screen; the service continues until the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not pro-rate partial months, and monthly fees already paid are not refundable except where required by law.
A number assigned to you is provided through our telephony carrier and is licensed to you for the life of your subscription rather than sold to you. Cancelling the subscription releases the number, after which it may be reassigned. If you want to keep a number long-term, arrange a port with us before you cancel. Numbers must not be used for unsolicited marketing calls, automated dialling, or anything that breaches Canadian telecommunications rules.
You must not use the service to break the law, to impersonate someone else, to harass anyone, or to collect information you are not entitled to collect. You are responsible for what you tell the assistant to say, including any claim, price or commitment it repeats to your callers.
Calls are recorded and transcribed. You are responsible for keeping the caller notification enabled and for any additional consent your profession or province requires.
We aim to keep the service running continuously, but it depends on third-party telephony and AI providers and may be interrupted for maintenance or by their outages. We do not guarantee that the assistant answers every question correctly, and our liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid in the three months before the claim arose.
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account for non-payment, or for use that breaches these terms, after giving notice where it is reasonable to do so.
These terms are governed by the laws of the province in which your business is registered and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
